Power your property with FREE Electricity
Solar PV can provide you with free electricity from the sun using solar energy. Solar PV turn sunlight into electricity which is then used to power your property. The sun provides a source of clean energy which can be generated into renewable electricity.
How do Solar Panels work?
Solar PV systems have solar cells which are made from layers of semiconducting material. When light hits the material, electrons are knocked which produces a flow of electricity.
They do not require direct sunlight to work - they still work on cloudy days! However the sunnier the weather conditions are, the more electricity is generated. Energy leaves the panel and goes through an inverter which transforms it into electricity.
Solar PV cells can be grouped into modules which then can be grouped into solar arrays. Most of them fit on top of your roof but they can also be installed in the ground or on solar tiles. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit your home.
How much electricity is produced?
The amount of electricity produced is dependent on many variables including orientation, shading, sunlight etc. You can expert it to generate between 700 and 900 KWh per KWp installed generally.
